A lot of folks have been taking pictures with Santa and a few have asked why he’s holding a copy of the communist manifesto.
One reason is as a democratically-led workers cooperative we don’t have a boss to tell us to take it down!

Tree season is officially open!

After days of eduring all the grinches clamoring to "wait until we've carved the 🦃" we are finally open officially.

It's going to be a short season!

We are expecting our weekends to be very busy. If you want to maximize the time you spend selecting your tree, consider stopping by during weekday hours. We can't wait to catch up on what you've been up to all year! 🌈

Breaking News!
War, On Christmas Update!

Well friends and neighbors it’s not the most Christmas like news. But a huge Christmas Tree Conglomerate is attacking us again and trying to destroy Worker Ownership in this industry. The company in question spot jumped our stand at 86th and Amsterdam, and put a stand a block away from our flagship at Underhill and St John’s.
As worker owners of New York State Of Pine we consider ourselves a union of sorts.
Our founders cut their teeth in this industry working for the conglomerates for very long hours and very little pay.
Tips worked out to be the only way to make minimum wage.
Since those times we’ve been forging ahead with worker ownership and providing affordable trees because we don’t have a boss to pay,
For the tree bosses in heated rooms we are an existential threat.
Today some of us went and spoke with some of their workers about economic democracy, worker ownership and the Christmas tree game in general.
We will be bringing them Turkey later. In truth we consider them unwitting scabs but we also know all tree workers must take care of each other because its a brutal job and all workers are brothers and sisters.
We are unconcerned with competition because we aren’t capitalists we are workers and our morals aren’t stored in our wallets.
We also have the backing of a couple of incredible communities and in our opinion the best trees because of our strong relationships with NC farmers. We may have lost one location to folks trying to break our Christmas spirit but we intend to show what worker power can do in the coming days and have exciting announcements shortly.
We may not sleep this month, we may not stay dry, but with the help of our loving communities we can’t lose!
No Scab Trees!
All Christmas Tree Profits To Those Who Work The Lots!
All Power To The Workers !
Pictured is our Underhill and St John’s Location with the finest Fraser Firs in the land!

Today, one of the biggest Christmas Tree Seller in New York City declared war 🪖 on our worker's co-op. For years, you have brought our trees into your homes, allowed us to share the joy ✨️ of Christmas together. You helped us raise thousands for local Parent Teacher Organizations during a time of unprecedented budget cuts to Public Schools. We have donated hundreds of Christmas trees 🎄 to those in need. We’ve befriended your dogs 🐶, and seen your children grow. This morning, our construction crew showed up to our Upper West Side location to find another tree vendor already there. Our hearts sunk. Once again, the worst of the industry had revealed itself. For the second time, one of the Big Christmas players took a location we’d worked hard to cultivate. If you see a stand at 86th and Amsterdam know it is not New York State of Pine. Always look for our signature blue wooden stand to identify one of ours.

Maybe Big Christmas thinks a Worker-owned, democratically run cooperative can’t stand against their big business 💰. We can see why they’d look at our small operation and think we don't have what it takes to defend ourselves.

But our community has always been our secret weapon. We are one again asking for your support.

This time we’re manifesting the Christmas Tree lot of our dreams:

We don’t just want to replace what was taken, we want it to be even better. We’re looking to rent an empty lot where we can store and sell our premium trees. A big fenced-in lot we can use as the heart of our operation has been on our wish list for years. So please, if you know of anyone in 📍Brooklyn, 📍Queens, or 📍Manhattan that has one they're not using this season, put us in touch.

Our thoughts and hopes are with Western North Carolina as they recover from a storm our farmers tell us was the strongest in the region since 1916.
Did you know that NC produces the most Christmas Trees in the Eastern US with over 5 million yearly?
This year the Fraser firs purchased from our co-op send money back to the region hit hardest by this years hurricane season. Now more than ever NC farmers need those funds to prosper. Help keep the North Carolina Christmas tree region strong, purchase your tree from our workers' co-op.
